The Macklin Mohawks and Unity Miners opened up this past weekends action with a game on Friday, and the Kindersley Sr. Klippers had some big performances on Saturday night in a back and forth match-up against the Hafford Hawks. The Biggar Nationals also played twice, dropping a back-to-back to Hafford as well as the Edam 3 Stars on home ice.

There were lots of options for player of the week following the high scoring weekend, and Macklin’s nominees were goaltender Owen Bosch who stopped 26/27 in the 9-1 against Unity, and Lukas Biensch who had 2 goals and 3 points. Edam’s Owen LaClare had a hat-trick with 1 assist for a 4 point night against Biggar, though Hafford’s Brandon Lesko was the true road warrior on the weekend collecting 7 points in two games, and teammate Jeremy Boyer should be recognized as well as a set-up man with 5 assists over the two games.

The Kindersley Sr. Klippers had a tough bunch to choose from after a 7 goal performance at home. Shayne Neigum got the nod with a hat-trick and assist on the night, and David Dziurzynski getting a mention as well as with 1 goal and 3 assists.

Biggar had a few performances worth mentioning as well even though they lost two games in a 24 hour stretch. Chris Henry had 3 goals and 3 assists over two games, and goaltender Brett Matlock was busy as ever saving 88/104 shots in the contests.

League President Joe Cey stack ranked these performances, and chose Brandon Lesko from the Hafford Hawks as Player of the Week. His 7 point weekend helped the team secure a split after a tough loss in Kindersley, and as for the runner-up, Owen Bosch of the Macklin Mohawks was given the nod for his stellar goaltender outing vs Unity.
