It was a busy first weekend of 2022 for the SWHL with all eight teams in action. All games except one were decided by one goal, making for an exciting weekend of senior hockey.
Wilkie remains unbeaten is they narrowly defeated Biggar 4-3 on Sunday afternoon, thanks to some supurb goaltending from Brett Matlock, who made 43 saves on 47 shots, to give Biggar a chance to win.
Hafford took part in two overtime games over the weekend, first knocking off the Unity Miners 6-5 Friday night, then Biggar 5-4 on Saturday.
Macklin headed to Edam to take on the 3 Stars yesterday, and came out with a 3-2 win, thanks to goaltender Nathan Hargrave.

The annual player of the week was handed out by SWHL president Joe Cey, and week seven honours went to Devin Gerun from Hafford, who had five goals and two assists, including the overtime winner against Biggar, and a hat trick against Unity, in Hafford's two overtime victories.
Honourable mention went to Macklin goaltender Nathan Hargrave, who backstopped the Mohawks to a 3-2 win in Edam, against the 3 Stars on Sunday.
Wilkie continues to lead the way in the SWHL, with a 10-0 mark. Sitting in second is Edam, who is 7-3, with Macklin right behind at 6-2, and Kindersley sits at 6-3.
