The U13 Western Prairie Thunder girls team hosted the first tournament of the year at the West Central Events Centre in Kindersley, and came out with a silver medal winning performance. The 10 team tournament saw two girls teams from the west central region, as the U13 Western Prairie Redwings were also in action at the WCEC. The Saskatoon Comet Hurricanes managed to take the win over the Prairie Thunder, after a 6-3 win in the gold medal final. 

The Prairie Thunder sit 4-0 in the early season of U13 Saskatchewan Female Hockey League action after defeating the Swift Current Fury and Swift Current Ice Cats twice each. Next action for the team is a home game against the Swift Current Fury at 4:15 pm this Saturday in Kindersley, before heading out on the road on Sunday to play the Southwest Cyclones in Gull Lake at 12:00 pm Sunday. 

As for the Western Prairie Redwings, they will play their first game of their season this Saturday in Gull Lake against the Southwest Cyclones at 5:00 pm, before their home opener against the Swift Current Fury at 5:30 pm Sunday in Rosetown.
