Western Prairie Female Hockey teams had quite the weekend.

Not only did the AA Thunder take home their provincial title, but so to did the U13 Western Prairie team out of Unity with a 5-3 win in Balcarres this weekend. A big congratulations goes out to the local team for picking up yet another banner for the Western Prairie Female Hockey program.

Looking at their provincials run, the team based out of Unity took on Delisle after a first round bye. They would sweep that series after a 2-1 win in Game 1 and then a 4-1 win in Game 2. That moved them into the finals against Balcarres, who beat out Lumsden 7-1 and 6-0 respectively in their two semi-final games.

Game 1 of the U13 Girls Provincial B series ended up a 2-2 tie back on Friday, March 24th, setting up Sunday's winner-take-all Game 2 as Unity's Western Prairie squad hit the road to Balcarres after the even Game 1 matchup.

The series finale was another hard fought, higher scoring battle, eventually decided by Unity who found the back of the net five different times as they left Balcarres as Hockey Sask provincial champions.
