It was quite the scene in Southeast Saskatchewan over the weekend, as there was a train derailment that affected the surrounding area.

Train derails between Midale and Macoun

No injuries were reported by 11:20 am by local police, and Highway 39 was closed in both directions, with parts of nearby grid roads also blocked off according to reports.

An evacuation alert was issued for homes within 2,220 metres of the derailment, as some local comments were made by the nearby Macoun mayor.

CP provided an update at 7:40 on Thursday evening on how the scene remained active, and then the next morning Highway 39 remained blocked off as the blaze kept burning Friday morning.

By 9:00 am on Friday a story was out sharing that some residents were returning home, and then shortly after train movement was resumed as normal after repairs.
