Over 37,000 new vehicles were purchased in Saskatchewan in the past year.

That is an icrease of 7.9% from 2007's 35,000 vehicles.

Saskatchewan has the second highest percentage increase in Canada. Prince Edward Island was the only other province with an increase at 21.5%.

Advanced Education and Labour Minister, Rob Norris, says that the increase "shows that we have a higher level of comfort that allows consumers to afford purchases like new vehicles."

Nationally, new vehicle sales dropped by 10.3%.
