The West Central Wheat Kings Bantam AA hockey team was participating in the Graham Tuer AA Challenge in Regina this past weekend. A total of 32 teams receive invitations to play in the tournament that includes teams from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and even from the state of Washington.

There are scouts from the WHL and SJHL teams that gather together to look at the future generation of hockey players, and have a chance to watch each team play multiple games in a four-day span.

The boys from West Central played their first game on Thursday against the Central Plains Capitals and won 11-0.

On Friday, the Wheat Kings played in the early morning against Warman in which ended in a 4-3 loss to even their record at 1 win and 1 loss. Later on Friday night, the Wheat Kings squared up with Swift Current and came out with a 1-1 tie.

Saturday had two more games on the schedule with another early morning game against the Regina Pat Blues. The Wheat Kings took down Regina 5-4 in a shootout, and then won their second game of the day against Estevan 6-1 to have a perfect Saturday. The win against Estevan helped advance the Wheat Kings to the 'C' Side Championship Game.

On Sunday, the West Central Wheat Kings defeated the North East Wolfpack 5-0 to win the 'C' Side Championship of the tournament.

Their total record through 6 games on the weekend was: 4 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie.
