A CAA official has weighed in on the winter-tire debate, saying Saskatchewan should follow Quebec’s lead and make them mandatory.
As of yesterday, Quebecers driving without winter tires could face a $300 fine. CAA Vice-President Chris White says once other provinces see how many fewer accidents there are in Quebec this winter, they’ll be under pressure to bring in a similar law. White says even though Saskatchewan may not get as much snow as Quebec, winter tires will prevent tragedies. A recent national poll found that Prairie drivers are least likley to use winter tires.
