The AAA Redwings are Provincial champions already with a best of 5 series win over the Bethune Bulldogs. FULL STORY. They were almost league champions this year as well, and they really haven't had many losses. They started the year strong suffering only 2 regulation losses in 16 games before Christmas. League Stats. They made it to the ACHW League final, hosting the game on February 11th. The Lacombe Generals capitalized on a late power play, scoring the winning goal with 2.2 seconds left on the clock to win the game 4-3.

Rosetown's Provincial quest began on February 24th with a 5-2 loss to Bethune. Questions began cropping up about aspects of the team. However, coaches never questioned the fabric of the Redwings core "they always seem to find another gear" says head coach Keegan McAvoy. They managed to pull off 3 wins in a row after that loss to defeat Bethune and win the title. They will have another SHA Provincial banner to hang in the rafters, as they won SHA Provincial AAA crowns in 2012 and 2013. Now -  ALLAN CUP SCHEDULE

 Redwings win vs. Bethune

High caliber senior hockey is not new to Saskatchewan but we certainly don't dominate. Shellbrook Elks have iced a team in the recent past. Lloydminster Border Kings have been very competitive and even hosted the tournament. Unity Miners had the Allan Cup in 1996, and then you have to go way back. Way, way back! Back to the horse and cart days. Regina Victorias hosted and won the tournament in 1914-15. Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and BC have largely dominated the Allan Cup scene since then.

Don't forget Manitoba. The South East Prairie Thunder out of Steinbach have iced a phenomenal team for the last 6 or 7 years. They always seem to have Rosetown's number as well. They beat the Redwings in the semifinals in 2012 when the tournament was in Lloydminster. They won the whole thing 3 years ago in Newfoundland. 2 years ago they hosted the Allan Cup and made it to the final but lost out to Lacombe on home ice. Last year they defeated Rosetown in Allan Cup qualifying to earn the right to go to Bouctouche NB.
