"It's got to keep going without me."

Terry Fox. Born July 28, 1958.

He lost his leg at 18. Three years later he ran a marathon everyday for 143 days in a row. An amazing feat for an able bodied man, rather an amputee.

3,339 miles starting on April 12, 1980 at St. John's Nfld as he dipped his toe in the Atlantic Ocean. No crowd. No fanfare.

"Don't give up, you can make it", people shouted as they all came out from around the country to cheer him on towards the end.

September 1st, 1980 he collapsed in pain after running 18 miles near Thunder Bay, Ont.

His original goal of raising $1 million dollars has been exceeded. The Foundation announced that they have now raised $715 million to support cancer research.
