The Elrose wrestling club was at the South Sask Open in Moose Jaw on February 12th.

The team did an exceptional job and surprised even the coach, Russell Fersch, who coached the team to success in 2009, and didn't expect the team to possess this level of talent again for at least a few more years.

"I absolutely loved what I saw from the kids," Fersch said. "they had great skill, their effort was awesome and we're on the right path now to build another powerhouse again."

Jordan Bouclin, Porter Nickason and Denys Kuzmych won gold. Ratmyr Kuzmych, Landon Fortin and Joseph Bouclin won silver. And Clinton Babyck, Carson Fortin, Kyryl Kuzmych and Michael Bouclin received bronze.

Russell Fersch, also spoke of a different perspective from other coaches when it comes to wrestling.

"I don't teach the typical moves that you usually teach the small kids. I teach the moves that, if they can get these moves, they can use them all through high-school, all through college, and at the world championships and score. I happen to have a different perspective of coaching compared to most other programs, where I don't worry about winning, I worry about development."

The teams next event will be in Warman on March 3rd.
