Conquest's very own Alli Lockwood finished in 4th place at the Canada Summer Game in Female Softball during the second week of the Canada Summer Games.

Lockwood and Team Saskatchewan began the tournament with hopes of getting on the podium, and came just short of the goal. The draw was set out to be very challenging for Team Saskatchewan as they had to place in the top four out of ten teams to make it to the playoff round, and even fourth place meant that there was still work to do.

Teams like Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec all have terrific ball programs with the very best players and coaching staff available. Saskatchewan needed to be their best from the very beginning to have any chance of a medal.

Team Saskatchewan got out to a hot start with victories against Prince Edward Island and Manitoba on the first day of Round Robin games. Team Sask took out Team P.E.I. 9-5 and then followed things up against the host province with a 5-1 win.

On the second day of competition, Team Sask faced a tough day with matches against Team Alberta and Team Ontario. Sask lost to Alberta 8-4 and were later defeated by Ontario 4-2 to even their record at two wins and two losses. Both games were close all the way through which gave Saskatchewan some hope that they knew they could compete with the top teams in their tournament.

Day 3 proved to be much better with a 10-0 victory over Nova Scotia, and then a 6-2 win over New Brunswick. The two victories improved their record to 4 wins and 2 losses.

Day 4 was another great day for the girls from the prairies. Team Saskatchewan defeated Team Quebec in a close 4-1 win and then defeated Newfoundland & Labrador in an 11-1 victory. Saskatchewan clinched a playoff spot with their sixth win of the tournament, and there fourth consecutive victory.

In the final day of round robin, Team Saskatchewan played their final Round Robin Game against British Columbia and finished with a 6-1 defeat to place in 4th place after round robin.

Saskatchewan would face Alberta in the 3-4 Page Playoff game where Alberta would go on to advance to the semi-final and guarantee their province a medal. Saskatchewan played all of their games against playoff teams with grit, and a bit of an edge. Although they were underdogs, the girls in the prairies showed that they are right there with the top teams in the sport.
