At the Christmas break, the West Central Wheat Kings are currently in first place in the North Division of the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League.

Through 21 total games leading up until Christmas, the Wheat Kings have a record of 17 wins 3 losses and 1 tie for a total of 35 points. The boys still have ten more games remaining in their regular season schedule before the playoff round begins.

#13 of the Wheat Kings, Logan Linklater, has been one of the best scorers so far this season. Linklater currently sits in fifth place overall in the entire league in points with 14 goals, 29 assists to tally up 43 points.

The Wheat Kings are currently on a six game winning streak that started on December 9th when they took on the Martensville Marauders in a 9-2 victory. It was a busy schedule for the team with seven total games in the month, but managed to post a 6-1 record.

After the Christmas holidays, the Wheat Kings will play one of their most anticipated games of the season when they travel to play Prince Albert. The team from Prince Albert is chasing the Wheat Kings and are currently in second place with 31 total points.

This year, the North Division is much more competitive than the South Division. There are four total teams with at least 30 points earned competing in the North, and another four teams within the twenty-point range. Meanwhile, in the South Division, Swift Current is the lonesome team in the thirty-point range with 36 points and the Prairie Storm Thunder are the one team in the twenties range with 27 points.

This goes to show just how talented the Wheat Kings roster is for the 2017-18 season.
