Dakota Buttar has outlasted the eight-second buzzer on five of his last ten bulls, however has found himself sliding down the world standings.

After his showing at Kansas City, Missouri, Buttar travelled to Tacoma, Washington for the final event of March, where he was awarded a re-ride after being bucked off ‘Hangman’ less than a second into the ride. He finished out round two riding ‘White Dynamite’ for an 83 point ride, which landed him a 17th place finish but no points to add to his standings.

Buttar started April in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he placed 14th after what seemed to be a strong start to the invitational tournament. In rounds one and two, Buttar was looking on top of his game completing both rides, one landing an 82.75 scoring and the other for an 85 scoring from the judges.

However, in round three, Buttar was thrown off ‘Audacious’ in 3.9 seconds and in round four, his bull ‘Budakon’ also got the best of the cowboy, bucking him off in 5.46 seconds. The Kindersley bull rider earned 15 points alongside his 14th place standing and approximately $1500 in earnings.

In the most recent showing in Billings, Montana, Buttar rode two of the three bulls for the full eight-second count. Rounds one and two put an 84.25 and 85 point ride up on the board for Buttar which earned him 17th place, eight points and $1180.

To date, Buttar has 37 outs and 14 rides, making his ride percentage 37, which is 3 per cent higher than his ride percentage for 2018, where he finished a career best rank at 17th in the world.

Buttar currently is holding down the 36th spot in the world rankings, a five-placement slide from where he was sitting after the Caterpillar Classic in Kansas City, MO at the end of March. In 2019, the Kindersley cowboy has only placed in the top 10 once and is still trying to get into the 90 point ride club, something he achieved three times last year.
