The Rosetown Redwings are coming off a difficult weekend out in Alberta which featured two losses on their road trip. After losing 4-2 to the Lacombe Generals on Saturday, then getting shutout 3-0 by the Innisfail Eagles, the Redwings are preparing for their biggest game of the season this Saturday at home.

The Redwings could've clinch top spot in the league standings had they won their games this weekend. They've done a good job at either maintaining the lead or by staying near the top of the table throughout the season. But the latest set of losses have created an interesting scenario heading into their final fixture of the regular season.

Rosetown is currently in a tie for first place with the Generals at 20 points each. While Lacombe has a game in-hand, the Redwings own the tiebreaker on the Generals. Jason Ediger, assistant coach and general manager of the Redwings, tells us more about this Saturday's must-win game.

Here's how the standings shape up going into the last set of games before playoffs.

Their loss to the Generals on Saturday night will have the players practicing hard and trying to patch things up over the next few days. Despite having a short bench over the weekend, the staff are planning to get the team to invest more focus and work on special teams before their crucial contest.

Finishing in second place wouldn't be the worst situation for the Wings going into the postseason, but Ediger explains why it's important to aim for first.

The Wings will be keeping close tabs on Lacombe's Friday night game when they host the Stony Plain Eagles for a chance to go up two points in the standings. In the meantime, the Redwings will be resting up and readying for their biggest battle yet.

Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. local time from the Rosetown Arena.
