The Delisle Chiefs record breaking 38-1-1 season came to a very surprising end last week when they lost out in the second round to the Saskatoon Quakers.
Now, with the season ending it's time to say good bye to some important players in the locker room. Graduating this year is Defenseman Tyler Leier, and league defenseman of the year Josh Atkinson.
"Our captain from Dinsmore," Ryan Marushak is the Chiefs General Manager. "It's going to be a big loss, with being defenseman of the year. By the sounds of it he's headed home to play Senior hockey with Dinsmore. We were happy to have had them both as Delisle Chiefs for four years."
Ryan was confident that the legacy left by Tyler and Josh will ensure that the team is competitive next year.
"We return quite a few players still. Josh and Tyler taught the young guys a lot this year. I think they've groomed the younger guys well, if the guys listen to them and play how they did and with their commitment to the Delisle Chiefs, we'll be fine."
The Chiefs year end banquet is coming up, and then after that it's back to work preparing for the 2019/2020 season.
