The Eatonia Huskies have been one of the most exciting teams to watch this season in the Sask West Hockey League. It doesn't matter if the club is taking on one of the league's top teams, or one of the bottom teams, you just know that it's going to come down to the end.
It's been proven by their record in the standings, where the Huskies have posted a record of 3-6-4 (3 wins, 6 losses and 4 overtime losses). The four overtime losses are the most across the entire league, and it's not even close.
Even though the club wasn't able to turn some of those overtime losses into wins, the Huskies have their eyes set ahead as they play their first game of 2018 this Friday against the Kindersley Red Lions. Through their next seven games, the Huskies will have five home games, including four consecutive home games against teams at the bottom of the standings.
Troy Becker, Manager of the Eatonia Huskies, talks about the positive vibes in the dressing room with the players heading into the final seven games of the regular season.
"It's a very positive group of guys, and they know they are right in every game if they come out and play their game." Becker stated.
It will be vital for Eatonia to move up some positions in the standings to set up a more favorable first round playoff opponent, and they have an easy schedule to do so.
If the playoffs were to start today, the Huskies would take on the Macklin Mohawks in a Best-of-3 series. Macklin currently sits in second place in the standings while the Huskies are in seventh.
