As second semester rolls on for the students at Kindersley Composite School (KCS), basketball teams are getting set for crunch time in their seasons.

It only seems like last week when the basketball season started picking up steam, while students began preparing and writing their final exams.

A month has now passed since then, and teams have finally jelled and become accustomed to their systems and strategies ahead of the most important part of the season.

For the senior girls basketball team at KCS, they are excited for the next coming weeks of basketball on their schedule.

Last weekend, the squad went undefeated at a one-day tournament in Leader and claimed gold medals while never allowing more than 18 points in their three games. On Tuesday, the team travelled to Eston and won by a final score of 72-52, and defeated the Kerrobert Rebels 53-45 last night.

"The girls have come such a long way this season," said Taylor Retterath, one of the coaches for the team. "I have no doubts that they can make it to regionals."

The only thing standing in the girls' way to qualify for regionals is a tournament for conferences scheduled for March 10th and 11th. The team will travel to Caronport for the tournament. "Even if we do lose, I'll still be a happy coach knowing they played their hardest all season," said Retterath. "As long as they are happy and having fun, that's all that counts to me."
