The Kindersley Senior Klippers had a successful weekend in the Sask West Hockey League with a pair of victories. The Klippers first headed to Luseland to take on the Mallards and had no trouble defeating them with a final score of 19-4. Kindersley then headed home on Saturday to play the Unity Miners and fell behind early on a first of three goals by Unity’s Kristian St. Onge. But the Klippers answered back with two goals by Damon McKenzie in just 21 seconds to take the lead 2-1 after the first period.

Kindersley built an 8-1 lead with just under 10 minutes to play and were well on their way to comfortable victory. The Miners, however, fought back and scored 5 goals in the final 7 minutes to make the score 8-6. That’s the way the game ended and with the win the Klippers sit at 3-1 after 4 games in the SWHL this season. Newcomer Eric Gryba got on the board this weekend, getting his first as a Sr. Klippers in the 8-6 win on Saturday. Shayne Neigum leads the team with 13 points and 7 goals with Damon McKenzie and new addition Presten Kopeck just behind with 11 points. Ex Junior Klipper Tate Page is off to a strong start as well with 10 points in the 4 games so far. Luke Sproule has been strong in goal with a light workload putting up a 3-1 record with an .889 save percentage.
