Today will make the third day of the Saskatchewan Scotties Women's Provincial Tournament as teams from different parts of the province play for a shot at the national tournament later this winter.
Three locals from the west central region are participating in this year's tournament: Sherry Anderson from Delisle, Robyn Silvernagle from Biggar, and Stefanie Lawton from Saskatoon but originally from Delisle. Silvernagle and Lawton are on Team Silvernagle and representing the Twin Rivers Curling Club in North Battleford while Sherry Anderson is the fourth for her unit out of Nutana Curling Club from Saskatoon.
During the opening draws on day one of the tournament, Team Anderson jumped to an 8-6 win over Regina's Team Streifel. Silvernagle's side easily handled Saskatoon's Jessica Mitchell 10-1 in their first appearance. Silvernagle and Anderson met for their second matches of the tournament with Robyn and her crew scoring two points in the 9th end for a 9-7 victory.
On day two, Anderson returned to winning form in a 7-5 victory against Team Barker out of Moose Jaw before coming up short in her second match to Chantelle Eberle out of the Highland Curling Club in Regina. The final score was 8-2 bringing Anderson and co. to a record of 2-2 after the first couple days of the event.
As for Team Silvernagle, they continued rolling on the second day of action. In their afternoon game, Silvernagle and Lawton came out on top with a 5-4 win against Team Barker, then a 7-3 W over Team Just from Saskatoon to stay undefeated at 4-0.
The ladies are back on the ice for afternoon and evening matches for draws 6 and 7. At 2:00 p.m., Team Silvernagle go up against Team Holland (4-1) on sheet 1 and Team Anderson will face Team Just (4-1) on sheet 3. This evening at 7:30 p.m., Anderson is up against Team Mitchell (0-5) while Silvernagle and Lawton play Team Howard (1-3).
