Members of the Eston Ramblers Midget hockey team have been competing hard for one of their fallen teammates this season.

In 2015, Layne Langridge lost his life in a grain truck accident alongside his grandfather who had tried to save his life. All season long, the Midget players have had his jersey hanging in the room to keep his memory and presence alive.

The Ramblers are playing for the Hi-Way 14 Hockey League Championship against the Diefenbaker Bandits, and currently have a 1-0 series lead. Eston defeated Diefenbaker 3-2 on home ice in the first game of the series, and will look to finish what they started tonight in Game 2 in Diefenbaker.

If Diefenbaker is able to even up the series tonight, there will be a Game 3 played in Eston on Monday night.

Malcolm Price, Eston Ramblers Manager, talks about how the Ramblers and Bandits match up well with one another.

"Anything can happen when these two teams play each other. We happen to have a couple strong scoring lines that can handle the puck well, and so do they. It comes down to who can get the right bounces at the right time." Price said.

While Eston prepares for the League Championship, they are also in the middle of the Midget B Provincial Championship Final right now against Strasbourg. Eston hosted Game 1 of the two-game total point series on Wednesday night, and came up short 10-4. The series will now shift to Strasbourg for Game 2 to determine a winner.

It is rare to find a team still competing this late into March in both League Playoffs and Provincials, but the Ramblers have managed to find a way. While the Provincial title remains to be a long-shot, the Ramblers remain in the driver's seat with a 1-0 series lead in the Hi-Way 14 Hockey League Final.
