The Kindersley Jr. Klippers picked up another defenceman this week, this time via the 2020 SJHL Bantam Draft. The Klippers selected Isiah Arnold from the Saskatoon Bantam AA Bandits with their 1st round pick (4th overall). 

"Future Klippers defenceman, Isiah Arnold put up impressive numbers , 66 points in 31 games for the Bandits. Isiah is a smooth skating, intelligent player with an amazing ability to make the right play with the puck," Klippers Head Coach and GM Ken Plaquin said about the defenceman. 

Kindersley then took Arnold's teammate from the Saskatoon Bandits, Matthew Edwards with their second round pick (16th overall). 

"Edwards is a hard working physical player with great size and finish around the net," Plaquin said about the Bandits forward. Edwards had a great season for the Bandits in 2019-20, putting up 25 goals and 62 points, good enough for 20th overall in the SBAAHL. 

The Klippers traded their third round pick to the Nipawin Hawks, and then selected Humboldt Broncos AA Bantam forward Ryland Martin with their 4th round pick (40th overall). 

"Ryland is a fast player with quick feet and puck skills. He is also equipped with a great release on his shot," Plaquin said about the Broncos forward from Watrous. Martin had had 18 goals and 30 points for the Broncos last season.

Kindersley then took another defenceman in the 5th round, picking up Joel Stein from the Saskatoon Stallions with 52nd overall pick in the 2020 SJHL Draft. 

"Joel is a dependable and steady defenceman, with great work ethic and compete level in the tough areas," the Klippers Head Coach and GM said about the Saskatoon product. Stein had 14 points in 31 games for the league leading Stallions last season. 

The Klippers then scooped up Saskatoon Generals forward Carter Hanson with their second pick of the fifth round (57th overall). Hanson had a good season for the Generals in 2019-20, putting up 15 goals and 39 points in 27 games for the Saskatoon squad. 

"Carter has good size and great work ethic,he excels in the battle areas and can also produce good offence putting up 39 points in 27 games last year," Plaquin said about the Saskatoon born forward. 

Kindersley wrapped up their 2020 SJHL Bantam Draft by picking Swift Current native, and Northern Alberta Prep forward, Anthony Wilson in the sixth round, (64th overall). 

"Anthony is a smart, two-way forward, who is responsible in his own end. He (Anthony) has a great work ethic and skating ability," the Head Coach and GM said about Wilson. The Swift Current native put up 27 points at Northern Alberta Prep last season. 

As for on the local front, Karson Blanchette, who hails from Unity, and had a standout season for the West Central Bantam AA Wheat Kings, was taken by the Melfort Mustangs in the 3rd round (26th overall). Blanchette had a great season for West Central last year, scoring 20 goals, and adding 28 assists for 48 points in 26 games played for the Wheat Kings in 2019-20. And another west central product was taken in the SJHL draft as well. Mitchell Robbie from Rosetown was picked 59th by Flin Flon Bombers. Robbie had a great season for the Wheat Kings a year ago, putting up 14 goals and putting up 29 points in 29 games for West Central in 2019-20.
