The Junior Women and Men's Q-Spiel #2 were held this past weekend in Regina. The top four teams from each Qualifying Spiel will be eligible to play in the Junior Provincials.

Team Sommerfeld, based in Rosetown, competed at the tournament. The team is composed of Lian Wood and Taylor Wenzel of Rosetown, Kennedy Pederson of Outlook and Kelsey Sommerfeld of Allan.

"We ended up with a better record and won two games, which was nice." Skip Kelsey Sommerfeld said they had a great weekend, despite losing out before qualifying.  "We're going to be practicing and working on our weaknesses and hopefully work to our strengths for the next Q-Spiel."

She said they improved from the first Q-Spiel, but were not able to stay in the competition, "It's a little disappointing but we learned a lot this weekend."

Team Sutherland was also in Regina this past weekend, vying for a provincial spot. The team includes Cody Sutherland of Rosetown, Jack Reid of North Battleford, and Bruce Krepps and Doug Sroka of Maidstone.

It wasn't the turnout they hoped for but Skip Cody Sutherland, said they had some great match-ups, "We kept all our games close and we had chances to win all of them but we couldn't capitalize."

Sutherland noted they just have to work on their weaknesses for a better game, "All the teams have been tough this year, everyone had improved since our first spiel. We just need to start improving our self too."

Ahead of the third and final Q-Spiel, Sutherland said they will have a few games to brush up on their skills, "We're just going to stick with our league games and have a couple more practices and be prepared for the last Q-Spiel."
