After an entertaining couple games to conclude the Fertile Valley Baseball League (FVBL) playoffs, the two finalists will be teaming up for provincials this weekend.

Players from both the Kindersley Stallions and Kindersley Raiders are joining forces for the Senior 'AA' Tier 2 tournament as the Kindersley Clippers. The eight-team tournament is hosted by the Yorkton E&S Yankees this year and feature games from today until Sunday.

Of course, the Raiders were crowned champions for the 2017 FVBL campaign after sweeping the Stallions 2-0 in the final series. Both games proved to be close encounters, with the champions taking game 1 6-3, followed by a 2-1 walk-off series-clinching victory.

So, there is no doubt it will be a highly-talented group heading to Yorkton for this year's tournament.

"A lot of these guys played with us last year so we have a good feel of how they play," said Raiders player Byron Ismond, who will be playing in this weekend's tournament. "They are good ball players and they are going to come up big for us."

One of the biggest acquisitions the Raiders are excited for involves the solid pitching featured on the Stallions roster. As provincials mark the end of the ball year for most teams, fatigue and injury-prevention become a large factor for pitchers. No doubt Ismond and his Raiders teammates are welcoming the added arms.

The Clippers will kick-off their schedule today at 4:00 PM when they take on the Sask-Alta Baseball League champion Swift Current Yard Goats.
