Delisle Composite School's Rebels football team will have a chance at provincial glory this upcoming weekend when they face the Indian Head Broncs in the 2A nine man provincial final.
The Rebels clinched a berth in Saturday's provincial football championship game after hammering the Nipawin Bears from L.P. Miller Comprehensive School 58-8 in last weekend's semifinal.
As for their foes in this weekend's game, the Rebels are hoping to get some revenge after last year's provincial tournament.
After finishing the regular season with an undefeated record last autumn, Delisle was knocked out in the first round by the Broncs, losing 29-15 at home. Indian Head went on to the final game where they lost against the Shaunavon High School Shadows.
Saturday's rematch with the Broncs will be in Delisle just like last year's game, but the Rebels are aiming to end the season with a perfect record and a provincial trophy in 2018.
Kickoff for this Saturday's final is set for 1:00 p.m. from Delisle Composite School.
In the 2A six man bracket, the Macklin School Sabres came up short in their semifinal game at home against the Wakaw Warriors. The final score was 57-56.
This was the first time Macklin School has made it to the semifinal round in provincials for football.
Wakaw will go on to host their respective provincial final versus Clavet, the team who finished above Macklin in their conference this season.
