Day Three of the 2019 Allan Cup commences this afternoon at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex in Lacombe, Alberta with a couple savoury matchups.

In the later match, the South East Prairie Thunder are searching for win number 2 of the tournament when they take on the Haut-Madawaska Panthers at 8:00 p.m. MDT. Prior to that game will be two undefeated teams going head-to-head in a clash between Saskatchewan versus Ontario.

The Rosetown Redwings are up against the Stoney Creek Generals as both teams will wrap up their round robin schedule this evening before the quarterfinals start up tomorrow. Both clubs are coming off wins against the Innisfail Eagles in their opening matchups; Rosetown broke a 3-3 tie on Monday to win 4-3 in regulation, while the Generals skated to a 4-1 victory yesterday.

With both teams at one win each, tonight's winner will clinch the top spot in Division One and will automatically move to the semifinals with Innisfail ending division play at 0-2. If another situation presents itself with tonight's result, here is how the tiebreaker rules play out to determine where teams are placed for the knockout rounds:

Team Seeding Following Round Robin Play

  • Most points.

  • Winner of the head-to-head game (if applicable).

  • Goals for/(Goals For+Goals Against) GF/(GF+GA)

  • Fewest goals against

  • Most goals scored

  • First goal scored head-to-head

  • Fastest goal scored in round robin competition

  • Least penalty minutes head-to-head

  • If still tied, a coin toss will determine the winner

When these two met in last year's Allan Cup hosted in Rosetown, it ended in a 3-3 tie during the round robin. Rosetown went on to lose their quarterfinal game to Atlantic representatives Elsipogtog 6-4, while Stoney Creek defeated South East 5-2 before winning the Allan Cup with a 7-4 victory over Lacombe in the final.

This evening's Redwings versus Generals matchup is set for 4:00 p.m. MDT from Lacombe, Alberta.
