The Rosetown Redwings have not played a regular season game since December 9th when they lost 6-5 to the Lacombe Generals at home.

This weekend, a new chapter will begin for their 2018-2019 season when the Redwings begin the new year with a pair of games versus the Stony Plain Eagles at the Rosetown Arena.

Saturday night will be the kick off to the weekend matchup when the clubs play at 8:00 p.m. followed by a Sunday afternoon rematch at 3:00 p.m.

General manager and assistant coach Jason Ediger knows his players will need to dig deep against a team hungry to keep up with the Generals who currently sit at the top of the standings. Ediger shares his thoughts on their first opponents of 2019.

While it has been a while since the Redwings have played a hockey game with ACHW points on the line, the extended time off gave the players and staff a much needed break to rest up and spend some quality time with friends and family.

But, the Redwings did put in some hours over the last few weeks since their last games against Lacombe. Ediger talks about what the organization has been up to.

The Redwings currently trail the Generals by 3 points but have a game in-hand. Stony Plain and Innisfail are not far behind either with 10 and 9 points respectively. The Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs are no longer in the running for the Rathgaber Cup after they suspended operations in late October.

Here is how the standings shape up before this weekend's schedule.
