Teams from all over the province competed in the Under 12 Girls Fastball Provincial Championships this past weekend at the Rosetown Sports Grounds.
The host Rosetown Angels squad set out a goal before the tournament began that they wanted to make it to Sunday's playoff round and would need a solid effort in the round robin games to accomplish that. The Angels managed to win 2 games while only losing one in the round robin to clinch a spot in the playoff round.
The Angels would go on to face the Edam Blue Sox in the semi-final match-up after the Blue Sox finished in 1st place in the other pool. The Angels found a way to come out with an 11-10 victory and finished the game with a tremendous tag at 3rd base to advance to the Championship Game.
Kelly Emmons is the Head Coach of the Rosetown Angels and talks about how exciting the semi-final game was.
"It was very exciting because it came right down to the last inning and we were able to hold on for the victory," Emmons said.
Rosetown would go on to play the Shellbrook Heat in the Provincial Championship but fell to the Heat to finish in second place. Emmons still mentioned that the team was happy with how the weekend went overall.
"We accomplished our goal by making it to Sunday, and making it to the Championship Game was a bonus. We came together as a team and everyone enjoyed playing with one another." Emmons stated.
There were 7 visiting teams in the tournament with the addition of the host team, and each visiting team had good comments about Rosetown being the host venue for the weekend.
"Each team was really happy that we were hosting here in Rosetown. There were several teams that were close in proximity to our location which made it easier for them to be here. We had great support from parents, community members and tons of fans came out to watch which was great."
