The Kindersley Klippers played a pair of games versus the Battlefords North Stars over the weekend.

Friday's game in Kindersley finished in a 4-2 win for the North Stars, then on Saturday, the Klippers finished 2019 with a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory in Battleford.

Kindersley will return to action this Friday at the WCEC when the La Ronge Ice Wolves visit for the second time this season.

 


 

The Sask West Hockey League squeezed in three games over the weekend before the new year.

The schedule started on Friday with the Kindersley Sr. Klippers on the road against the Wilkie Outlaws. The Klippers were able to win a nail biter with a 2-1 win in overtime.

Two games were played on Saturday night. The Unity Miners skated to a 9-5 win over the Macklin Mohawks, while the Klippers won at home and remain undefeated this season with a 8-2 victory against the Luseland Mallards.

SWHL action resumes this upcoming weekend with five games between Friday and Sunday.

 


 

Only one game was played in the SVHL during the weekend.

The lone fixture featured the Kyle Elks defeating the Lucky Lake Lakers 8-5 at the Lucky Lake Arena.

 


 

A 2-0 start was expected out of Canada to begin the 2019 World Junior Hockey Championships. But on Saturday, the Canadians were up for another challenging matchup in the Czech Republic.  Team Canada was able to defeat the Czechs 5-1 and remain undefeated in the tournament so far.

The Canadians were off yesterday and are now preparing for their toughest test yet in the Russians. Game time is 5:00 p.m. PST (7:00 p.m. Saskatchewan time).
