Several west central basketball players were recently recognized by the provinces official umbrella for basketball. Basketball Saskatchewan is used to handing out various awards along with hosting the All Star Senior Classic, which typically runs 1-2 weeks after Hoopla is completed, but were forced to alter their plans after the lack of competition this past season.

“Unfortunately due to Covid 19 we were unable to have a high school or provincial program basketball season, but we still wanted to find a way to celebrate the players that had been put in so much work over the years,” said Executive Director for Basketball Saskatchewan Megan Penno in an email.

Basketball Saskatchewan did find a way to name their All Star rosters, selecting the 10 silver medal winning male and female graduating players from the most recent Provincial Games roster. It was decided that would not be enough recognition to make up for what players missed, so a request was sent out to coaches across Saskatchewan to nominate any players that missed a year, that deserve recognition for all their hard work over previous years on the court.
