The first two months of the 2017/2018 hockey season are finished for the West Central Wheat Kings, who compete in the North Sask Female Hockey League.

So far, the girls haven't had a ton of regular season games but have managed to stay busy with tournaments, practices and other team exercises. The girls have played seven regular season games up to date, and have a record of 3 wins, 3 losses and one tie.

In past seasons, the Wheat Kings have had success by winning the entire league in the seasons of 2014/2015 and managed to win another in the following 2015/2016 season. There is a winning atmosphere in the region, and teams are still intimidated to be playing away games in this part of the province.

Looking ahead to December, the Wheat Kings have five games on schedule before the Christmas break takes place. Two games are being played at home against the visitors from Melfort on one weekend, and then the team will travel to Saskatoon for games against the Saskatoon Legends and the Saskatoon Impact the next weekend. Their final game of the 2017 calendar year will be played at home against the Saskatoon Impact before dismissing hockey for a long stretch of days.

There are seven teams currently competing in the NSFHL, and the Wheat Kings are currently in fourth place in the standings with multiple games in hand to play. The team is looking to stay busy approaching their next game which isn't scheduled until December 9th against Melfort.
