Family Day weekend will bring many activities to households across east-central Saskatchewan.

One of those could be fishing, as the province offers free fishing from Saturday to Monday.

Residents and visitors to the province can drop a line on any of Saskatchewan's waterways without requiring a fishing licence.

There are still normal restrictions on possession limits.

With warm weather throughout the week, the province is also advising anyone taking to the ice over the weekend to ensure proper safety when heading out.

Four inches of ice thickness is recommended to walk on, with 12 inches for a vehicle.
