The town of Milden has hosted 6 great years of Art in the Park. The event is usually held at the Milden Memorial Park but due to some poor weather conditions this weekend, it moved indoors to the community hall.

The very first year of Art in the Park was held in 2012, and since then event has grown to host more and more vendors. The Park Board, which is comprised of 4 members, does all the work of hosting this event. Vendors come from Rosetown, Outlook, Perdue and even as far as Saskatoon.

Marlene Hendricks, one of the organizers, said they host a variety of vendors, "We had a lady with fibre art, really fine needle work craft. It's almost like painting in yarn or thread. Beautiful work. We had local photographers that take pictures and frame and sell the prints. We had a lady that makes her colouring books."

Other vendors include a jewelry crafters, different types of books, wood burning and even homemade honey. This year saw around 15 vendors.

The event began at 10:00am on Saturday morning and lasted until around 3:00pm.

Some people visited for just over an hour, while some stayed for the entire day. There was a lunch and other snacks being served to raise money to make this event possible.

There are usually two art shows held in Milden each year. Marlene said the proceeds always go back into their community, "The one we do in June, the proceeds go to maintaining our park. The one in November, the proceeds go to maintaining the hall."

Maintaining the Milden Park is a group effort. Marlene said everyone does their fair share, "Maintenance right now, we have several different plots we have people looking after. They are responsible for keeping them groomed and planting the flowers. Every so often we all try to get together and look after it."

The organizers take great pride in being able to help display the special pieces of art on display, and are already looking forward to the 7th Annual Art in the Park. Hopefully good weather will be in the forecast in 2018 come June.
