The Kindersley RCMP are warning residents to be cautious of criminals in the area targeting diesel trucks.

Recently, on three separate occasions, diesel particulate filters (DPF) were taken from the undercarriage of the trucks. All three of the incidents happened between February 1 and February 3, 2019 in Kindersley.

One incident was able to catch partial footage by surveillance cameras. Josh Hood with Iron Horse Energy Services, stated from what was observed from the footage, two individuals came into the yard and were driving a newer small SUV, one of the perpetrators went under the truck carrying a sawzall type tool and emerged with the part in hand.

Hood said that from the time they parked in the yard to when they left was approximately only eight minutes.

According to experts, the DPF system contains a certain amount of precious metals within the metal canister which is likely why it is attractive to criminals.

If you have any information on this or any other crime, please call the Kindersley RCMP detachment at 306-463-4642.
