It's always important to make sure what you're eating is safe and clean, but also how you are storing food for a long period time as it can cause serious problems with your health.

The month of December just happens to be Food Service Safety Month and serves to remind us at home to ensure we are doing the right things to make sure what we eat stays free of risks. And since this is the month where there’s a high amount of festive feasting, keeping food safe is more important than ever.

You may have noticed that most restaurants carry around a "Hygiene Certificate" of some kind to ensure that the area where they prepare the food is clean. Every packaged meal you eat, every microwave meal, every tub of ice cream must have been made in an environment subject to the high food safety standards demanded by the food service industry – so you can enjoy your meal without fear of getting unwell.

Washing hands before you prepare a meal, and right before eating a meal can be a common thing with most people, but can easily be forgotten. One of the purposes of Food Service Safety is to take any advantage you can by keeping as clean as possible.
