Yesterday afternoon, a group gathered at Kindersley's Aquatic Centre for the ribbon cutting ceremony, or pool noodle splitting ceremony, to signify the completion of the project.

The indoor pool has been long anticipated by Kindersley and surrounding residents with the original completion date set for last October, however, the centre will be officially opening it's doors to the public, this Friday for the first public swim at 4:00.

Before that time however, a few individuals will get to have the first waterslide and first jump in the pool. Dr. Lonnie Brooks had won the first waterslide, of which he gave to the winner of the colouring contest, Kira Besplug. As for the first jump in the pool, the privledge will go to the Hopkins family, all winners will be at the pool at 3:45 to be the first to get their toes wet before the doors open to the public.

Audrey Hebert, CAO for the Town of Kindersley, said they are very excited to have the pool ready to open, it is something that had been missing from the community for a number of years and she said the Town hopes the added amenities will attract new residents to the area while also adding quality and recreation to the community as a whole.

After the Town posted the pricing schedule for the facility, some comments on social media eluded to the prices being higher than they personally thought they should be. Hebert explained that they came to the decision on the pricing for the pool after doing research at other comparable pools in the area. She said Kindersley's current fee's are on par for many other pools in the surrounding area.

Hebert shared that although many generous donations were made to the pool project, the Town has borrowed just over $2 million to the end of December 2018, with additional expenses that have come up in 2019. As the pool is complete, nothing is left to be done, however, Hebert said it is the remaining debt to vendors that any future donations would be put towards.
