This past Saturday the 10th Annual Lake Lenore Lions Club Ice Fishing Derby took place at Lung's Beach (approximately 20 minutes outside of Humboldt).

657 people came out with their fishing shacks for a chance to win $25,000 in prizes, including $10,000 for whoever caught the largest fish.

Kindersley's own Bailey Schmidt and Rick Fries were two of the top competitors this year and each took home prize money.

In total 60 fish were caught: 53 northern pikes, 6 walleye, 1 perch

First and second place ended up in a tie, $10000 was added to the second place prize of $4118.28 and split at $7059.14.

There were 16 major prize draws that were drawn at random plus an extra prize was drawn for those that caught a fish.
 
Over the 10 year history of the derby, a total of $110,000 has been raised. All proceeds will be donated back to Lake Lenore or various other charities or causes that the Lions Club support.
