Members of the Rosetown RCMP received a number of calls over the week of May 1 to May 7, 2020. They also noted that between April 25-30, Rosetown RCMP dealt with three 911 mis-dials, and issued 58 Traffic Safety Act charges.

On Saturday May 2nd the Rosetown RCMP stopped a vehicle for excessive speed. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. A 22 year old female from Calgary, Alberta was charged with Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired and over 80mg% along with a ticket for speeding. Her first appearance is in Rosetown on August 13th, 2020.

On May 1st members were dispatched to a residence in regards to threats being uttered via text regarding a recently ended domestic relationship. The matter is still being investigated. Over the period of May 3-4, Rosetown RCMP responded to a call regarding a child custody issue which was later dealt with, and a Break and Enter at a residence in Zealandia where members attended and processed the scene. The Rosetown RCMP were also dispatched to another Break and Enter on May 7th, to a residence south of Zealandia. Several windows were broken in the residence as well as other mischief to the property. The matter is still being investigated.

On May 5th, Rosetown RCMP received information from the Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) advising that a Rosetown individual had ordered a firearm suppressor (aka silencer) from a company in the United States of America and attempted to have it shipped to Canada through the mail. The package was intercepted at the border by CBSA agents. The matter is still being investigated.
The RCMP is reminding individuals about the steps to take prior to purchasing items from other countries, as in some cases the product being shipped is not legal in Canada. Criminal Code charges may result depending on the item that is being shipped into Canada.

On May 6th, Rosetown RCMP were dispatched to theft on Highway 7 near Harris, Saskatchewan. A good Samaritan provided a ride to a hitchhiker and after the hitchhiker was dropped off, realized that their cell phone was now missing. RCMP members located the individual and after a brief struggle, the individual was arrested and taken into custody. A 34 year old male from Witchekan Lake First Nation was charged with Resist Arrest and three (3) counts of Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public. The male was released with a first appearance in Rosetown on July 23rd, 2020.

Also taking place on May 6th, Rosetown RCMP were dispatched to a grass and structure fire at a farmyard in the R.M. of St. Andrews approximately 15 kms south of Rosetown on Highway 4. Rosetown and Elrose Fire Departments and attended and successfully extinguished the fire. The fire was deemed non-suspicious in nature.

To cap off the police report, Rosetown RCMP were dispatched to a mischief complaint at a residence south of Rosetown in the R.M. of St. Andrews. Members attended and located an adult male and female individual who had been asked to leave the property by the owner but were refusing to do so. Members identified the male as an individual on a Conditional Sentence Order with conditions that he had breached. A 42 year old Saskatoon male was arrested and transported to Saskatoon to be brought before a judge on May 8th, 2020 regarding the allegation of breach. The adult female was removed from the property without incident or charge.
