While COVID-19 has caused nearly every public event to be cancelled, there is still hope for Rosetown’s Dusty Wheels Car Show.

The show is put together by the Dusty Wheels Car Club, whose purpose is to simply bring people together who have a mutual love for cars. While the Club was unable to attend the Draggins rod & Custom Show, due to that event’s cancellation, Club Vice President Barrie Churchman said that the Club is hoping to be able to hold the Car show in September.

With the Car Show being held at the Rosetown AGT Centre, social distancing remains a major challenge.

“We’re hoping that all of this rubbish is done by September. It’s gonna be pretty hard to social distance in the rink, but we’re hoping it’s all done by then.”

The Club recently had to cancel their Roadkill Cruise event in June, since it would not allow for social distancing. While they currently have a meeting planned in June, COVID has still had an impact on the group, as Churchman explained.

“We don’t get to see any of our friends with all the events cancelled, and there’s nothing better than going to look at cars.”

While not the most dire of situations to be in these days, the Dusty Wheels Car Club, as well as the show, provide a harmless pastime for friends and other community members to come together and appreciate stylish cars of every make and model.

With COVID case numbers continuing to drop, and Saskatchewan marching on with the re-opening plan, it's very possible that the Dusty Wheels Car Show can still take place this year.
