The Rosetown Fire Department will be bringing out the big trucks for a good cause this Easter weekend as they will going around the community collecting donations for the local food bank.
All it took was one phone call from the Rosetown Food Bank stating they were getting low on items and the volunteer fire department quickly decided to do everything they could to help out.
“They gave us a call and said they were in need of some items like kids snacks and crackers and a bunch of things, so we all had a quick meeting and decided right away to get involved and do our part to help – no child deserves to go hungry so we are doing what we can to make sure that doesn’t happen,” said Captain Duayne Leys with the Rosetown Fire Department.
While keeping in mind proper social distancing practices, the firefighters will be bringing out the big red firetrucks and going around Rosetown this Saturday between 11am and 4pm collecting any donations that residents are able to give.
“Whatever they can afford to donate, we are just asking that they leave it out on their front step or driveway and we’ll come by and pick it up and make sure it gets to the food bank.”
Captain Leys also stated the fire department will be going one step further and will be donating money from the fire department to then go get additional items from the local grocery store to donate – and are encouraging any business who are able, to donate as well.
“Any businesses who can afford to, we know its hard times for many, but if they can afford to, to donate money that we will add to what the fire department is donating and we’ll go down to the grocery store and buy items to give to the food bank as well.”
Captain Leys said anyone who is interested in donating can call or text him directly at 306-831-8987.
