The West Central Abilities organization are designed to provide persons with disabilities the opportunity to enhance their quality of life, to build their confidence and achieve as much independence as possible.

At the moment, West Central Abilities is in the preliminary stages of fundraising for a brand new building to accommodate those with disabilities more suitably. The building that is being used right now isn't in the best location for those with transportation issues, and holds back from having the full experience for some people.

Kim Edmunds, Executive Director with West Central Abilities, talks about how long the organization has been around.

"We have been around for 45 years, and we're now working on 46 years of operation." Edmunds said with excitement.

The need for a new building is something that has been talked about for some time, and a new spot has already been scoped out.

"Our current location is in the industrial area. We are surrounded by heavy equipment and it can get in the way of giving our members the full experience of what West Central Abilities is all about. We have individuals that access our service that don't have transportation abilities, and traveling down a gravel road can be more difficult for someone using a walker or wheelchair." Edmunds talked about the difficulties that the members have to overcome when coming to the building.

More fundraisers will continue to take place, and support from the community will be needed in order to achieve their goal.
