Wilkie is one of the many locations throughout the province with an Elks Club. Wilkie's Elks Club currently consists of 15 community members.

The Elks organization has been running for many years and holds fundraising events to support their local communities. Wilkie will be having their largest fundraising event this coming weekend, in conjunction with the Wilkie Farmers Days. The group will be hosting their snowmobile rally on Saturday.

Money raised by the Elks is distributed admits the town for things such as playgrounds, seniors parks, hospital equipment and the list goes on. Their number one cause that they continue to raise funds and awareness for is the Saskatchewan Pediatric Auditory Rehab Center.

All work done by the Elks is volunteer based. Eugene Hartter, former Wilkie Elk and now the Saskatchewan Elks President said all the work is worth it, "When you have a five year old come up to you and give you a hug, thanking you because they can hear, it makes it all worth it."

Wilkie and all other Elks organizations are always looking for more members. If this is something you are interested in you can simply complete an online form or visit your local Elks Hall.
