A spokesperson for the Agristability program says the fee for Agristability funds and Agri-Invest must be paid by the end of the month.
Diane Smith says there have been changes made to the way reference
margins have bee calculated. Smith acknowledges many farmers have
become disillusioned with the program, and have given up trying to
access funds. Client relations manager Murray Stow says the
administration is consulting with farmers to see how the program should
be improved.
One of the problems with the agristability program is that it is based
on reference margins. Cattlemen have seen their income drop in
the last few years to the point where they have little or no margin
left.
