The final report for July is in from the Biggar RCMP.

In addition to locating a burned truck in a rural area, Biggar RCMP handed out multiple tickets along with handling other police business in their July 27 report.

Fraud attempt noted

As part of the detachments 34 calls for service during the week of reporting, a few of them revolved around fraud.

"Few calls reporting various fraud attempts, from cashing false cheques to attempts of extorting money from individuals."

These reports serve as a reminder that fraudulent behavior can be reported to police directly, and also to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Burnt truck located

Investigation is open into both a vehicle theft and its eventual destruction after officers were tipped off about a burnt vehicle.

"A stolen truck from Marriott was located burnt on Tower Road off Hwy 4," stated the report with no further information given.

Tower Road is located south between Biggar and Rosetown.

Pair of fines handed out

Two significant speeding tickets were dealt by Biggar RCMP according to their latest report.

The first involved a 44-year-old female driver from Saskatoon who was fined $538 for operating her vehicle more than 35 km/h over the posted speed limit. 

"That's when the wildlife comes out"

The other call was another speeding ticket given to a 46-year-old driver from Saskatoon who was caught speeding over 50 km/h above the posted limit and given an even pricier ticket at $854.

The individual attempted to navigate his way out of the ticket by claiming he wanted to get home before dark, because "that is when the wildlife comes out".

Noise complaints at local bar 

The recent report also detailed some noisy mischief in town limits.

"Residents complaining of noise on Main Street coming from the bar at 2:00 a.m."

No further information was given, other than an overall reminder to be respectful during the earliest hours.
