A team of inspectors spent time evaluating areas of the Heartland Health Region in what areas were already spectacular, and which areas needed improvement to help signify a better area.

Patients helped express their views by telling the team of inspectors they have always received great satisfaction whenever dealing with the organization, and have always remained consistent.

Heartland Health Region received a pass from the Accreditation Canada survey in 2017. The agency rates Heartland operations every four years, which means they will be back in 2021.

Heartland's strengths had a long list which included an extremely engaged board of directors, good working relationships with community partners, an excellent focus on staff and client safety, great client satisfaction and a strong emphasis on the inclusion level patients and families in care provision.

Things to work on included having a need to "formalize" and evaluate quality-improvement measures to serve less accessible regions in the community. Areas where workers don't want to live still need to have the resources of having safety options.

The same group evaluates 10 Heartland locations and analyze many different categories of how operations are going. Accreditation Canada will continue to work with Heartland Health Region to create a better system that focuses on safety and high-quality services.
