The Highway 7 Project has stayed on track through 2017 so far due to decent weather in the summer months.

With a lack of rain during July and August, it has allowed workers to spend more hours working on highway projects and making sure that everything remains on schedule as the fall months begin in the near-by future. There has been setbacks in northern areas of Saskatchewan with more precipitation, but past summers have proven to be much worse than this year.

Workers will continue to work around the route around Vanscoy, and making negotiations with certain land negotiations with near-by towns to help accommodate the area. There are lots of things to deal with when creating a twin highway, especially with the near-by railroad and municipal roads in the region.

David Marit, Minister of Highways, believes there will be two new railroads put up so trains can access their destinations easier.

Other highways in the West Central Region are receiving minor fixes to create better and safer roads. There is some capital maintenance being done from Rosetown to Swift Current on Highway 4. There has been discussions about creating new passing lanes from Rosetown to Kindersley over the next few years, which will continue on towards the Alberta border past Kindersley.

It is important to remember traffic rules when traveling in a construction zone on the highway. All drivers must slow down to the allotted speed on the signs.
