A mainstay in many rural homes, CBC’s just for laughs has given almost all of us a good chuckle. This year due to financial troubles though, the big comedy festival has been canceled and its future is uncertain.

Things may have been scaled down during the pandemic, but this is the first formal cancelation within the 41-year history of the organization.

Just for Laughs is also a big part of the Canadian Comedy Awards, making up a third of the governing body of the comedy association.

Dodsland’s own Cory Mack, a comedian who has been nominated and won many awards has performed at the just for laughs festival. To this day she still tours just for laughs comedy clubs around Canada.

CBC ran its just for laughs gags program where pranks were played on the public, initially releasing in 2000 and having over 3000 episodes to date.
