Kindersley Citizens on Patrol have released their semi-annual report, detailing activity in the area for the first half of 2019.

The volunteer based program assists law enforcement patrol the area by reporting suspicious behaviour in the area while out on patrol. They serve as an incognito support to officers in an effort to reduce criminal activity within the municipality.

In 2019, from January to June, there were 29 patrols made totalling 232 hours. During those patrols, volunteers covered 2077 kilometres while observing and reporting any odd or suspicious behaviour or situations.

In the first six months of the year the citizens on patrol reported three trouble calls made to the RCMP, down from nine in the latter half of 2018, and 11 doors or gates unlocked or open.

With the ups and downs of theft within the region and in the interest of overall community safety, the program is still looking for new volunteers and those interested are asked to call Staff Sargent Ray Blais at the Kindersley RCMP detachment.

Residents can also purchase a COPP sign to place in their window, or can also contribute financially to the program.
