Elections coverage has dominated the news over the last few months. Everything from municipal elections to Election Day in the United States of America.

The Junior Council of Kindersley are not necessarily holding an election soon. But, they are preparing to renew their positions as members of the group.

The current council's term is just finishing up, and the new applications for the committee will be going to Kindersley Composite School this week. Interviews will be taking place in the beginning of December so the new council can start in January.

Junior Council will also be working with the new Town Council of Kindersley during 2017. Part of the program is being consulted with councilors at least twice a year during their term. "We're really excited to see all of the new ideas that come out of town council that they delegate us on," said Jillian McArthur.

The group will also be engaging in activities and planning with the town's culture sector as part of a culture committee. "The Kindersley Culture Plan Committee will plan to work with the new town council and hopefully impliment a culture plan to increase community engagement and the town's overall standard of living," mentioned Tessa Sautner.

Everyone who followed the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election has an opinion on the events which occured on November 8th, 2016. The Junior Council shared their thoughts on the election as well.

"I thought it was really interesting how it was split up between two halves of the country and it was a close race," said Jocelyn Cannon. "I didn't think it would be that close."

"The candidates for the U.S. Election seemed a lot less personal because it was more national," shared Tessa Sautner. "A lot of our councilors are close to home, and that's nice to see because you want your leaders to be community leaders and to be a part of your community."

Each member had an opportunity to share their personal agenda and goals with the youth committee for the upcoming term if their position is renewed. Listen below to hear what each person had to say:
