The Kindersley sledge hockey tournament was held this past weekend with 7 teams from the junior side and 5 in the intermediate including one in each division from Kindersley. The junior team had great success starting with a 7-0 win over Swift Current on Friday night. The junior team then beat the Regina Avengers 4-3 on Saturday morning to go to 2-0. The team had 2 more games on Sunday and once again came out on top starting with a 2-0 win over the Edmonton PSA Blades in the morning and then finally won 6-0 over the Medicine Hat Hounds junior team to finish with an unblemished 4-0 record on the weekend.

As for the intermediate team they started their tournament on Friday night with a 1-1 tie over the Medicine Hat intermediate Hounds. They then played one game on Saturday and fell 1-0 to Regina Avengers intermediate team to finish Saturday with one tie and one loss. They were back on the ice on Sunday for a pair of games starting against the and beat the Calgary Stingers 4-1 for their first win of the weekend. In their final match up they played the Bruno T-Birds and lost 6-2 to wrap up their weekend with a 1-2-1 record. Tracy Lyons, manager of the Kindersley Sledge Hockey Club, was impressed by the turnout of the teams...

Lyons also explained what other tournaments the sledge hockey teams will be attending this season...

The junior team in sledge hockey had a perfect amount of players and the intermediate could have used a few more players according to Lyons...

The tournament had 12 teams in all including 5 intermediate teams and 7 junior teams on the weekend.
